WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Khadijah Tribble, CEO of the US Cannabis Council (USCC), released the following statement in response to the 2022 midterm election results, which included two states passing ballot initiatives to legalize recreational cannabis use:
"We're confident that meaningful reform is on the way for our industry — regardless of which party controls the Senate. USCC’s federal focus for the next two years is to build on areas where we know bipartisan consensus already exists. With voters approving recreational cannabis ballot measures in Maryland and Missouri, nearly half of all Americans now live in states where cannabis is legal. It's time for our federal cannabis laws to reflect the will of the people. We call on the Senate to take up the bipartisan SAFE Banking Act as soon as possible to help entrepreneurs in these states and around the country enter and grow the burgeoning cannabis industry.”
